The other day, we were surprised to see this guy scurrying around the yard and climbing the walls (kind of like all of us these days).

This is a five-lined skink and is the most widespread lizard in Indiana. This guy was just looking for some sun! Glad this one is around – they eat insects.
When you hear about lizards, you might think they are only found in warmer climates, like say in Florida. But (I looked this up) Indiana is home to several species, including the five lined skink, broadhead skink, western slender glass lizard, northern fence lizard and the ground skink.
Just goes to show you that you do not need to go far to find interesting wild life.
